What precautions should be taken during Marble Sculpting and welding process?

There are many aspects that require special attention during the welding process of Marble Sculpting.

Stone Unicorn Ornaments

1. Generally speaking, there are two types of stone carving electrodes: calcium titanium type and low hydrogen type. The titanium-calcium type welding core wire is only suitable for flat welding and friendship fillet welding, and is not suitable for all-position electric welding; the low-hydrogen type welding core wire can be used for all-position electric welding. When welding, try to use a DC regulated power supply for the current amount, which is helpful to eliminate the redness and melting density of the welding wire.
2. Stone Carving electrodes should be kept dry when used. In order to prevent cracks, dents, vents and other defects, the titanium-calcium type solder core should be air-dried at 150-250°C for 1 hour before welding, and the low-hydrogen type solder core should be air-dried at 200-300*C for 1 hour before welding. Do not air-dry repeatedly, otherwise the medicinal skin will easily fall off.
3. Keep the welds clean and tidy, and avoid oil and dirt on the welding wire to avoid increasing the welding carbon content and affecting the welding quality.
4. In order to avoid stress corrosion caused by heating, the electric welding current should not be too large. It should generally be about 20% lower than that of carbon steel electrodes. The arc should not be too long. The virtual beam will cool quickly, so narrow channel welding is appropriate.
5. When striking the arc, be careful not to strike the arc in non-electric welding positions. It is best to use an arc plate made of the same material as the welded parts.
6. Try to use short arc electric welding. If the arc is too long, it will easily cause thermal cracks. The string tension is generally 2 to 2mm.
7. Short arc rapid welding should be used for transporting the strips, and sideways movement is generally not allowed. The purpose is to reduce the heat generation and the width of the thermal hazard zone, improve the welding resistance to stress corrosion, and reduce the tendency of thermal cracks.
8. When welding different steels, welding wires should be used with caution to avoid thermal cracks caused by improper use or σ phase dissolution after high-temperature quenching and tempering, which will cause the metal to age. Refer to the welding wire selection standards for stone carving boards and different steels, and adopt appropriate welding methods.
